If you can cite any academic references in your analyses then this would be great, but your own thoughts on these phenomena is itself an insight to be shared.
RITUALS

I have rituals that I have found to be helpful and that work for me. I’m sure you do too. Some seem to work for many of us. For example, prayer is a divine ritual that works for millions of people. Working with crystals and working with colours enjoy many successful outcomes for many of us. Some people gain a great deal of fulfillment through the use of Oracle Cards, or conversing with Angels. Scribing, Dowsing, Tarot, Automatic Writing, Astrology, Telepathy, and many more have become ritualistic for many people in many cultures. We do not have to stop doing what we are doing if it works for us just because we are now, perhaps for the first time, approaching these phenomena more scientifically. Actually, most of what you are doing now, or are interested in trying now, will still have its own way of doing it whether you analyse it or not. Usually, the more you do something the better you understand what you are doing anyway.

Just as some of these things above work for many people and are very much a part of our human experience, some things have shown themselves to be very negative to just about everyone who uses them. Some things are just better left alone, at least until you have a better understanding if you do want to research them. One of these things is the Ouija Board. I don’t know why this is so negative. But I can tell you it is. It’s like spending time with someone who enjoys hurting others, and if you spend too much time with people like this you become drained and depressed, or worse.

Another thing I would like to ask you all is to make sure that before you start looking into any of this stuff, and I don’t care if you do it at university or in your own lounge room, make sure you cleanse yourself and your environment first. Have you ever walked into a really dirty house? How do you feel? Like taking a shower? Even if you don’t actually touch anything in that house, the smells seem to attach themselves to you – correct? In a Universe made up of energy we don’t fully understand there are some things you need to do as a preventive caution. If you travel to a country were Malaria is rife you go to the doctor and get your malaria shots before you travel there right? Right. You can’t actually see the malaria coming to attack you but its there just the same. Right? Right. Some of us have traversed the terrain of some phenomena, others of us haven’t. Some of us know that if you don’t understand how to cleanse and protect you will pick up something you don’t want. Some of what we embark upon in the terrain of mediumship and psychic expeditions can require our bodies to undergo some use of energies just like athletes use, only in different ways. If we are not healthy we might find that our immune system isn’t equipped to ward off colds and flu as our energy is used in ways we are not used to. This can even happen when you study a subject. Long periods of concentration or looking at new things not yet processed in our cognition can require some high amounts of energy. There is nothing supernatural in that!
HOW TO CLEANSE AND PROTECT

Using Clear Quartz Crystal to cleanse your Aura.

Imagine washing your body with a bath sponge. Now take your quartz crystal in your hand and use it the same way, only hold it away from your body approximately 5 cm or 2 inches. Where you would normally wash and resoap the bath sponge shake the crystal away from yourself and return to the next part of your aura.

Now clean further out until you have a nice auric space all cleansed. Your auric space is usually egg shaped around your body. You can test the space you need for your aura by moving the crystal away from your body slowly and stopping when it stops tingling.

Note this is a cleansing method but not a protecting method. After you do this protect your now cleansed aura.

Protecting your cleansed aura

If you have just had an aura bath with your crystal and you feel pretty zingy then close your eyes and imagine one of those forcefields that you’ve seen on science fiction shows. You know the ones, you can’t see them but if you try to walk through them you’ll bump your nose! Make this forcefield one that moves with your body and enables you to go anywhere. Give yourself plenty of area inside this forcefield. It will be egg shaped around your aura but can move with your body. You see through it at high resolution but it cannot be penetrated. You can even make it like a one sided mirror if you like, where you can see out but no-one can see in at you. This then becomes a cloak of invisibility and is a way to go unnoticed by those around you. You can put this cloak of invisibility around other things too, like your car if you are worried about thieves.

Protecting your environment

Smudging is great for protecting your environment. Just like dust sticks to certain areas, negative energy can stick to the corners of the room. Smudging especially in the corners is helpful. Use incense sticks or special smudge sticks.

White light and iridescent blue light are also used. See yourself washing the room with lots of white light or iridescent blue light, as if you are hosing it through a high pressured fire hose, in every part of the room. You can hose other people in this light too in case they haven’t done their own protection.

Sometimes when you protect your environment you recognize subtle entities present. If they are meant to be there the cleansing won’t affect them but if they aren’t they will leave when you cleanse.

You should always cleanse and protect before any kind of focused activity, including meditation. Even if you are outside in the sunshine make sure you use the sunshine to make a protected space for your meditation.
WHEN TO CLEANSE

If you go to a Mass then there are a lot of rituals in place to cleanse and protect the church prior to the sacraments taking place. But if you attend a meditation group this may not be the case. I attended one meditation group where there was no cleansing and the mediation rhetoric was dark in itself. I don’t believe that the person facilitating had any idea what she was doing but the experience was not a good one. I found myself having to cleanse the room and all those in it without their knowledge. No mean feat. It is much easier if we are all responsible for ourselves when it comes to cleansing and protecting.

Another time I had a Reiki session but the practitioner’s energy was laced with his own thoughts rather than just channeling and I had to do some praying to get this situation on track. My Angel came to help out and it was quite a wonderful experience for both he and I. Perhaps I was supposed to be there to help him to understand that you can’t just work on other people without making sure you and your surgery is cleansed first!

Another area where you need to cleanse and protect is during any Regression activities. Going back through past lives using hypnotherapy or time line therapy or others requires cleansing and protection. I’m always amazed at how many practitioners are not aware of the need to cleanse and protect before inviting their clients to open up their auras to them. This is similar to using a dirty knife to perform surgery.

Many practitioners are not aware of this. Those that are may use some other techniques pertaining to other rituals. There are lots of rituals that can be done to cleanse and protect. The above are just very easy ones for you to do that take hardly any time. I would suggest that you do these a few times to get the feel of what’s happening so that if you do try other methods you will be able to discern the feelings you get when you do.
