Reading Chakras

Reading Chakras is simply reading energy. The most common use of this is for health purposes. Anyone interested in this area should read “Anatomy of the Spirit”. In this book Carolyn Myss explains the correlations between illness, emotional states and the Chakras in great detail, including tables and diagrams. This is the best first book I know of for those who seek to understand our Chakras.

Once you are happy that you understand something about how your Chakras actually operate you are ready to practise reading your own, and others’. The most important thing to do before reading some one else’s chakras is to ground yourself and cleanse your own chakra system. This is as important as a washing your hands prior to surgery.

You can use a number of techniques to do this. An easy one is shown in the “Chakra Cleansing” article on this site.

The method we are going to use today is colour. Ask your subject to sit in front of you with their feet firmly planted. I find it usually helps to actually hold their hand, or hold something that belongs to them (the use of psychometry). Now, if you are drawn immediately to a certain area of their body then go with this and ’see’ the colour of that particular chakra circling in this area. If there is something there to be read then you will see this in a few different ways. Usually, if there is an unhealthy part or upset there may be browny patches on the colour in the area that needs reading. Sometimes you may actually see pictures of other things. These are important no matter how bizaar they may seem to you. Once I saw a picture of a large insect. Feel confident enough to actually tell the person you are reading because they will usually know why you are seeing such a symbol.

If you are not drawn to any particular chakra on your subject, just start at the base and check the red colouring. Put this onto the person if you can’t see it. As you do there may be areas where the colour doesn’t apply. When you learn to trust you will be surprised how often the person you are reading confirms that there is indeed something going on with them in this area. Ask them to “look” with you so that you can together do something about what you find.

All blocks are not necessarily ill health. Often our emotions get trapped there in our chakra system. If this is the case it is quite easy to tell by applying colour. For example, let’s say that in the solar plexus area you sense something but neither you nor your subject can shed any light on what’s going on. And this is common in this area because it is the solar plexus where we pick up on our encounters with others. Knots in this area are common. Apply yellow in this area. Smudge on as much yellow as you can. Actually “see it” being applied. If you ever feel that you are being harsh with colour in areas that don’t seem to shift then use violet (lavender) colouring to sooth trouble spots.

By practising this exercise you will soon be well on your way to understanding some of the language that the Chakras reveal to you. You will discover that there is nothing supernatural about this but that every one of us is able to read our own and each others’ chakras.
